FTA Registration Dubai
FTA registration is the process of registering your business with the Federal Tax Authority. This is the UAE government that is responsible for administering and enforcing federal taxes, including VAT and corporate tax. This is a mandatory requirement for eligible businesses and forms the foundation of your UAE tax compliance.

Federal Tax Authority UAE VAT Registration
There are two key registrations that your business should complete through the FTA. There is VAT registration and corporate tax registration. Each of these have their own threshold, deadline and compliance obligations so understanding which applies to your business is essential from the beginning.
FTA UAE VAT Registration – Businesses with taxable supplies and imports above AED 375,000 per year have to complete FTA UAE VAT registration. Voluntary registration is available from AED 187,500. If you don’t register within 30 days of meeting the threshold you will face a penalty of AED 10,000.
Corporate Tax Registration – All UAE businesses must register for corporate tax with the FTA regardless of whether they are responsible to pay it. If you miss the registration deadline, you could face penalties of up to AED 10,000. For more information on this, visit our corporate tax page.
Both of these registrations are completed through the FTA’s EmaraTax portal. It is a straightforward process, as long as your documentation is in order. Delays and penalties are caused by incomplete or inaccurate submissions.

Frequently Asked Questions
You complete FTA registration online through the Federal Tax Authority’s EmaraTax portal. This is where your company will be given a Tax Registration Number (TRN) for VAT and corporate tax.
If your taxable supplies and imports are exceeding AED 375,000 in a 12-month period, then you must complete VAT registration with the FTA. You can also voluntarily register once you have passed AED 187,500. This can help reclaim input VAT and demonstrate a proactive compliance approach.
Every UAE business must register for corporate tax with the FTA, even if they do not anticipate having to pay tax due to reliefs or low profits.
You may face an administrative penalty of AED 10,000 for each late registration. Not only this, late filing increases the risk of further penalties, compresses filing timelines and can make future audits complicated.
